It's time to come up!
Wednesday, 23 December 2009 23:08

What up everybody! I have been meaning to write this blog for sometime now but, haven't had the time to do it. As the year closes out, I feel the need to address this so we can start the new year off right. For the better of CHH. I talk to producers all the time and the same conversation keeps coming up. This is not a problem with all artists but, some and it is getting out of hand. When it comes to the artist paying for production, artists are trying to get over in a sense. Looking for free traks, giving excuses like "I'm indie" or " I don't have a budget" or not wanting to pay at all. Now as producers we know you are indie and don't have budget but let that be the producers decision if he or she wants to work a deal or not. Everybody can agree with this that we buy what we want to no matter how much it cost us. When it comes to your album you got to pay to get it mastered, if not then you have to get it cds replicated. If you want the best product have to PAY for it. And Discmakers want there money. Some producers including myself do this to provide for our families. When you finish your album, you plan on selling your cds hoping to make what you put into it back to continue to keep doing ministry and to put some food on the table. Real talk! Now its not all about the money but we have expenses too. And we put in work for yall to have bangin beats. And artist that have relationships with a producer. In time he or she will bend from time to time but you shouldn't be expecting that all of the time. I have good relationship with cats working and personal. And I'm bless to say I don't have a problem with artists paying my prices because, they know I do this as my fulltime job. And that is how it is suppose to be. Scripture clearly says you don't mussled the ox that treaded the corn. Pay a man what he is worth. (His price). We have to get out of that poorman mentality, I can afford it, yes you can! And we gon have to change how we are when it comes to takin care of business. God wants us to work and deal with another in excellency not always trying to get over or get by. So next time you trying to cop a trak, take this in consideration. I'm speaking for me and the LEASE of the producer's. Grace and Peace.

  • B.Isaac  - STACK UP!!!
thats my message to artist, STACK UP! save up so when your ready to make an album your already have your money in order to pay everyone involved in the project accordingly, when i work with indie artist (because i try to be a nice guy) i will keep the beat on hold until they can get the money for it (usually up to about a month or two) but all of that can be avoided by just stackin up on your bread before you start your project......
  • Zecharriah Erickson  - Who are WE!!
WHO ARE WE TO THINK AS CHRISTIANS WE DESERVE SOME KIND OF HANDOUT? FOR EXAMPLE.... TO GET THAT CHRISTIAN DISCOUNT. WE DESERVE HELL AND NOTHING MORE... BY GODS GRACE HE HOOKED US UP WIT HIS TRUSTED SERVANT MARV TO PRODUCE HOLY TOP OF THE LINE BEATS. I SAY PAY UP!!!!!!!! WE NEED TO INVEST INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD!!!!
  • yshwa4life  - ..no doubt
Yeah i've spent mad money on equipmet and such and hours of recording and deleting recording and deleting..it's like giving birth if ya wanna make stuff that's compelling. To give it away is a selfless act of love.
  • DJ JesusBeats  - Great post
I totally understand what your stance is on addressing to all the artists about respecting all the producers productivity and properly compensating them for the beats that they make for future songs. I pray all the artists will read this blog and understand that it costs money to get what you desire. This blog is not about producers like Marv who are just trying to make major money, but a clarification to all Artists that, nothing in life is for free. The producer payed money to get the equipment to make his or her beats. They have to charge a fee for their hard work and time and trust me, if you can spend $200.00 of clothes for your next performance, then you can afford to pay that for a beat from a producer who's credibility in making beats become chart toppers. Do understand that this blog is not about self glorification or greed, but to help all of you know that if you want the best, you have to pay a lot for it. Stop being cheap and trying to cut out the middle man. If y...
  • Big Juice  - Real talk
I talk about this all the time with my close friends. Equipment has to be maintenanced, purchased, repaired etc...Not to mention the simple fact that time is money. Not that money is the end all be all (that is a heart condition) but it's a reality that what producers do, requires bread. Especially with the fact that many artists do shows where they get broke off, sell CDs etc...

    Invest prayerfully!
  • Kadence  - AGREE
MAN.. this is too true.... For Some cats who I know WELL, i dont mind throwing beats out to for cheap or whatever. But for a random cats u just meet, its an insult to ask for free beats and such. It's like someone telling me " Its good, but not good enough to pay for". I got nothing but love for all my clientele and future clientele. But we gotta step it up on that note. Good Post.
